Cautions
• After removing the battery from the camera for storage or transportation,
attach the battery connector cover included with the EN-4. Shorting of the
battery could result in leakage, fire or explosion.
• For details on charging and discharging the battery pack, read the instruction
manual provided with the Quick Charger MH-16.
• Charge the EN-4 pack fully before using it for the first time, or after it has
been left unused for a long period.

Do not insert into the charging connector any charging plug other than those
provided with the MH-17, MH-16, MH-15 or EH-3 Quick Chargers, or the MH-19
Multi Charger.
Use of the MH-19 Multi Charger requires the MC-E2 Charge
cord for F100/D1 (available separately).
• The battery should be charged at an ambient temperature of between +5°C
and 35°C (41°F and 95°F).
• Do not recharge a battery pack that has already been charged; this may
adversely affect the battery’s performance.
• The battery may become warm while be recharged or while the camera is in
use. This does not affect battery performance or camera function.
• The capacity of the battery tends to decrease in cold conditions. It is
recommend that you have a fully-charged spare battery on hand.
• It is recommended that the battery be refreshed (discharged) once every
twenty or thirty times it has been charged.
• Should you note that the EN-4 only holds a charge for a very short period of
time, you will need to buy a new battery.
• Do not leave the battery pack in an area exposed to extremely high tempera-
tures [60°C (140°F) or more], such as inside a car or in direct sunlight.
• Do not apply strong physical shock to the battery pack, do not short-circuit
the terminals, and do not get the battery pack wet.
• Do not expose batteries to heat or flame, as this may cause an explosion.
• Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the battery.
• Do not touch the battery terminals with other metal objects. Keep the battery
terminals clean.
• Do not cover the area containing the gas vent (see figure). Covering the vent
could cause the battery to explode.
• If fails to recharge in the specified period of time, stop charging the battery
pack immediately.
• Do not use the battery pack if you detect discoloration, deformation, leakage,
or other abnormalities.
• Should the electrodes become dirty, wipe them clean with a dry cloth before
using the battery.
Discharging the battery pack
When you charge a rechargeable battery that has not been fully discharged, a
“memory” effect occurs which gradually reduces the battery’s capacity when
fully charged. To prevent this, it is recommended that you occasionally
discharge the battery fully. Refer to the instruction manuals for the Quick
Chargers (except the MH-17), or the Multi Charger, mentioned above for
information on discharging (refreshing) the batteries.

rechargeable battery pack for use only with the D1 series of Nikon Digital
Cameras.

with the D1 series of Nikon Digital Cameras. Do not use
the EN-4 with equipment other than the D1 series of
Nikon Digital Cameras.
• Do not connect the EN-4 to any EN-4 non-compatible
device.
• Do not expose the battery to heat or flame.

• Do not short the positive and negative battery
terminals with a metal object such as a necklace or
keys.
Failure to follow these instructions could cause the

Precauciones
• Después de extraer la batería de la cámara para su almacenamiento o su
transporte, acople la cubierta de los terminales incluida con la EN-4. Un
cortocircuito de la batería podría provocar una fuga, fuego o una explosión.
• Para obtener detalles de cómo cargar o descargar la batería, lea el manual
de instrucciones incluido con el cargador rápido MH-16.
• Cargue la batería EN-4 totalmente antes de usarla por primera vez o
después de que haya estado sin utilizarse por un período largo de tiempo.
• No conecte ningún enchufe de carga en el conector de carga aparte de los
suministrados con los cargadores rápidos MH-17, MH-16, MH-15 o EH-3, o
con el multicargador MH-19. Al utilizar el multicargador MH-19 con la F100/
D1, se necesita el cable de carga MC-E2 (disponible por separado).
• Cargue la batería a una temperatura ambiente de entre 5°C y 35°C.

• No deje la batería en lugares expuestos a temperaturas extremadamente
altas (60°C o más), tales como el interior de un coche o bajo la luz directa
del sol.
• No deje que la batería reciba golpes físicos fuertes, no haga un cortocircuito
entre los polos y no deje que se moje.
• No exponga las baterías al calor o a las llamas, ya que esto podría provocar
una explosión.
• No intente desmontar o modificar la batería.
• No permita que los polos de la batería entren en contacto con otros objetos
de metal. Mantenga limpios los polos de la batería.
• No cubra la zona que contiene la válvula de gas (ver figura). Si se cubre la
válvula, la batería podría explotar.
• Si la batería no llega a recargarse en el período de tiempo especificado, deje
de recargar la batería al instante.
• No use la batería si percibe en ella algún tipo de decoloración, deformación,
escape de sustancias u otro tipo de anomalías.
• Si se ensucian los electrodos, límpielos bien con un trapo seco antes de
utilizar la batería.
Descarga de la batería
Cuando se carga una batería recargable sin que se haya descargado del todo,
se produce un efecto de “memoria” que reduce la capacidad de la batería
cuando está totalmente cargada. Para evitar este efecto, se recomienda que,
ocasionalmente, descargue del todo la batería. Si desea más información
sobre la descarga de la batería, consulte los manuales de instrucciones de los
cargadores rápidos (excepto del MH-17) o del multicargador mencionados
anteriormente.
