Adjustment of carburetor...

When out of gear and on tick over, or in gear on tick over, the engine cuts out due to low revs. I need to adjust the carburetor to slightly increase revs so engine will tick over without stalling. This proceedure is not explained in the 'owners manual', can you advise please.
