1. Carefully plan the location of the General Purpose
Rope Hoist. The upper Safety Hook must be rmly at-
tached to a rope, chain or some structure that will fully
support the weight of the object to be lifted or pulled (500
Lbs. maximum). Warning: All 3 parts of the Safety Hook
must be engaged to the supporting rope, chain, or struc-
ture. Failure to engage the hook properly could result in
personal injury and/or property damage.
2. When setting up the Rope Hoist, (see photo at right),
note the difference in the Upper and Lower Hoist. The
Lower Hoist includes the end-of-rope locking device. This
Lower Hoist should always be connected to the object
that is to be lifted or pulled.
3. With the upper Safety Hook supporting the Rope
Hoist, inspect and test the Rope Hoist before attempt-
ing to lift the workpiece. Make sure the rope is in good
condition; make sure the rope is not kinked-up or twisted
between the hoists. Pull the loose pulling rope to make
sure the hoists are functioning properly.
4. After testing the Rope Hoist and nding that the hoist
is functioning properly, you are now ready to use the
product to lift or pull the workpiece.
5. Connect the 3 parts of the lower Safety Hook to a
supporting chain, rope or other connecting device that is
supporting the workpiece to be lifted or pulled.

Caution: Maintain safe work area. Before and during the lift, keep spectators clear
of the work area. Keep clear of the area under the lifted item at all times. Caution:
Periodically check all components of the Rope Hoist to make sure the product is in
good working condition.
6. Carefully pull the loose Pulling Rope and slowly lift or pull the workpiece. Always wear heavy
duty work gloves when operating the Rope Hoist. Make sure the work gloves do not get caught in
moving parts. Tension must be maintained on the loose Pulling Rope to keep the workpiece aloft.
After the workpiece is in the desired position, it can be lowered by slowly and carefully releasing
tension in the loose Pulling Rope.
Caution: The General Purpose Rope Hoist is intended for short term lifting or
pulling projects. DO NOT HANG A LIFTED WORKPIECE FOR AN EXTENDED
PERIOD OF TIME. After the lift or pull is complete, safely support the workpiece and
disconnect the Rope Hoist.
When not in use, the Rope Hoist should
be stored in a dry location that is out of
reach of children.
Note: Some parts are listed and shown
for illustration purposes only, and are
not available individually as replacement
parts.
