Using FM Trafc
Understanding Trafc
Garmin is not responsible for
the accuracy of the trafc information.
Use an FM Trafc Message Channel
(TMC) trafc receiver to receive trafc
information broadcast over the FM Radio
Data System. The trafc receiver is
integrated in the vehicle power cable.
In North America, trafc receivers
provide you with free, ad-based trafc
information that does not require a
subscription. Trafc information is not
available in all markets.
You do not need to activate the
subscription included with your FM
trafc receiver. The subscription activates
automatically after your nüvi acquires
satellite signals while receiving trafc
signals from the pay service provider. Go

Receiving Trafc
Information
To receive trafc information, the
following conditions must be met:
• The trafc receiver must be connected
to the nüvi.
• The trafc receiver and nüvi must
be connected to an external power
source.
• The trafc receiver and nüvi must
be in data range of an FM station
transmitting trafc information.
