10. sTeerinG sYsTeM
The steering system is an enclosed push-pull cable
that is hydraulically assisted (power steering) at the
stern drive end (Fig. 3.6.4). THE CABLE AND ITS
CONNECTIONS TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND
TO THE OUT DRIVE MUST BE INSPECTED AT
LEAST TWICE A YEAR BY YOUR BAJA DEALER.
See section 8 of this manual for inspection, service
and maintenance recommendations.
The power steering pump uid level MUST be
checked every time prior to using the boat. Refer
to the steering system information in your Owner’s
Packet.
9. sToppinG The enGine
1. Move throttle lever all the
way back. Once done,
move shift lever to neutral
position, which is located
in the center. Let engine
idle for about 5 minutes
to allow engine to cool
down (Fig. 3.6.1).

counter clockwise to turn
off engine (Fig. 3.6.2).
3. If you are leaving the boat
for more than two hours,
turn battery switches
OFF (Fig. 3.6.3).

Failure of the steering system will cause loss of
control of your boat. Any change in steering such as
looseness, tightness, binding, etc., must be checked
immediately by your Baja dealer.
