HIGH TEMPERATURE SHUT OFF SYSTEM

• Remove the two screws securing the access panel and remove
panel.
• Open the flap of insulation to expose the opening.
• Reset the high limit by pushing in the red button marked
"RESET".

• Fold the insulation back in place so that it completely covers
the thermostat and element.
• Replacethe accesspanel.
• Turn _ON" electricpowerto the waterheater.
ACAUTION
I If the highlimit must be reset again, call SearsService
Departmentto findout whythe high limit turned"OFF"
the eectHc power.
NOT ENOUGH OR NO HOT WATER
In a new installation, the water heater may not be p.roperly
connected. Make sure the cold water supply valve is open.
Review and check piping installation. Make sure that the
cold water line is connected to the cold water inlet to the
water heater and the hot water line to the hot water outlet
on the water heater.
Make sure the electrical supply to your water heater is
_ON".
Check for looseor blown rises in your water heater circuit.
Circuit breakersweakenwith age and may not handle their
ratedloadand should be replaced.
Make certain the disconnecl:switch, if used, is in the "ON"
position.
Check to seethe electricserviceto your house has not been
interrupted. If this is the case,contact the electriccompany.
Are the thermostats set to the desiredtemperature? See
"Temperature Regulation" section.
If you had exl_erienced very hot water and now no hot
water, the proolem may be due to the high temperature
shut off system. See"High Temperature Shut Off System"
in the "Troubleshooting_section.
During very cold weather, the incoming water will also be
colder and it will requirealonger time to becomeheated.
The hot water usage may exceedthe capacity of the water
heater. If so, waitfor waterheater to recoverafter abnormal
demand.Also examine pipesand faucets for possiblewater
leaks.
If you can not determine the problem, then call the Sears
ServiceDepartment.
WATER IS TOO HOT
Adjust the thermostat to a lower setting. See the "Temperature
Regulation"section.
