Stopping The Engine
Normal Shutdown
1. Move the engine speed lever to the low speed and run the
engine for about three minutes with no load.
2. After the engine cools, move the engine speed lever to the
STOP position (Figure 11).
4. Slowly pull the starter grip (Figure 9) until strong resistance
is felt and leave it in this position. This prevents rust from
forming while the engine is not in use.
Emergency Shutdown
1. To stop engine immediately, quickly place the engine speed
lever to the STOP position.

This section is intended to assist the operator with the
initial
start-up
of the trash pump. It is extremely important that this
section be read carefully before attempting to use the pump in
the field.
Starting the Engine (
HATZ
engine)
3. Move the engine speed lever to the START position
(Figure 8).
5. Pull the starter grip again, hard and fast, pulling it all the
way out to start engine.
6. If the engine does not start, repeat steps 4 and 5.

4. Grasp the starter grip (Figure 9) and slowly pull it out until
you feel the strongest resistance then return the starter grip
to the initial position.

CAUTION
Do not allow the starter grip to snap back against the engine.
Return it gently to prevent damage to the starter.
CAUTION
ALWAYS run engine at
full speed
while pumping.
CAUTION
When stopping the engine, reduce the load slowly. Do not
stop engine suddenly since it may cause the temperature to
rise abnormally.
