Lubrication
1) Remove the spark plugs, and spray a
10 second spray of “Yamaha Stor-
Rite Engine Fogging Oil” into each
cylinder. Grease the spark plug
threads and reinstall the spark plugs
and torque to proper specification.
(Refer to “CLEANING AND ADJUST-
ING SPARK PLUG”.)
2) Turn the engine over with the stop
lanyard disconnected to work the fog-
ging oil into the piston rings.
3) Fill the oil tanks. This prevents the for-
mation of condensation. For models
with a remote tank, it may be neces-
sary to manually override the control
unit to completely fill the engine main
tank. (Refer to “TEMPORARY ACTION
IN EMERGENCY”).
4) Change the lower unit oil. (Refer to
“CHANGING GEAR OIL”). Inspect the
oil for the presence of water which
indicates a leaky seal. Seal replace-
ment should be performed by an
authorized Yamaha dealership prior
to use.
5) Grease all grease fittings. (Refer to
“GREASING”)
