Cleaning and Stowage of Your Inflatable PFD
To avoid inflation, do not submerge the Inflatable PFD or directly spray the inflator.
• Hand wash or sponge down the Inflatable PFD in warm, soapy water.
• Rinse the PFD and inflator with clean water, using a clean rinse cloth. Do not get inflator
wet.
• Hang the Inflatable PFD to dry on a plastic coat hanger.
• Do not dry clean.
• Do not use chlorine bleach.
• Do not iron or dry with direct heat.
Always store your Inflatable PFD in a warm, dry place out of direct sunlight.
Determine if Your PFD Needs Servicing
Your PFD is required to be serviceable to be considered approved. To be considered
serviceable, your PFD must not exhibit:
• Excessive abrasion
• Fading
• Tearing of any of the fabrics or straps
• Excessively worn components
• Contaminated components
• Punctures
• Rotted or cut straps
• Separated seams and webbing attachments – tug on the seams and ensure the
components do not separate
• Broken or deformed hardware
• A nonfunctioning oral tube – perform the Oral Inflation Valve Test in the “Care and
Maintenance Instructions” section under “Every Three (3) Months”, and check for
punctures in the tube itself
• A leaking cell – perform the Leak Test as specified in the “Care and Maintenance
Instructions” section under “Every Three (3) Months”
