System Configuration Menu
The System Configuration Menu enables modification of system-level
switch configuration parameters. Select

from the Main Menu to view the
System Configuration Menu. Figure 3-4 shows the System Configuration
Menu and the accompanying table describes the System Configuration
Menu.

Selection Description
SNMP Configuration
Menu
Menu for configuring SNMP-related parameters.
System Name The switch administrative name (1-36 character range).
System Location The physical switch location (1-36 character range).
System Contact The switch contact person (1-36 character range).
IP Address The IP address of the switch.
Subnet Mask Subnet mask associated with the switch IP address.
Default Gateway The default gateway (or router) to which the switch sends
IP packets destined for a different subnet.
BootP/DHCP Enable Allows you to enable (Yes) or disable (No) the BootP and
DHCP protocols for automatically configuring the switch’s
IP address information.
Screen Timeout (minutes) The duration of time before a serial console or Telnet ses-
sion terminates due to user inactivity (0-65535 numeric
range). A value of “0” means that the screen will not termi-
nate at any time.
Password Allows “read/write” access to the user interface, via the se-
rial console or Telnet (1-10 character range).
Terminal Baud Rate Serial console baud rate (2400, 9600 or 19200).
Terminal Hardware Flow
Control
Allows you to enable (Yes) or disable (No) hardware flow
control on serial console interface. Signals DTR, RTS and
CTS are used for this purpose. Flow control should be en-
abled if using external modem.
