Setting up the Server for Event Monitoring by the Knowledge Module 6-15
Providing PATROL Agent Information using the Program GUI
(Windows NT Server)
The PATROL Agent setup GUI enables the PATROL Agent that will
consolidate the events from the Database Administration servers. Use the
following procedure to provide information about the host, the port
number, and the user account.
Step 1 Select PATROL DB-Admin KM Setup from the PATROL DB-Admin
Server 3.0 program group.
A notebook dialog box with two tabs is displayed.
Step 2 Select the PATROL Agents tab.
2.A To change the value of the Heartbeat, enter a new value in the
Heartbeat text box, or use the up and down arrows to select a
new value.
Note
The Heartbeat is the interval rate at which a signal is sent from each of
the PATROL DB-Admin servers to the PATROL Agent, indicating that
the server is on line. The default Heartbeat value is five minutes.
2.B To change the value of the Max Agent Timeout, enter a new
value in the
Max Agent Timeout box or use the up and down
arrows to select a new value.
Note
The Max Agent Timeout value is the unit of time during which the
PATROL DB-Admin KM tries to detect the arrival of a Heartbeat. If the
KM does not receive the Heartbeat during this time, then it assumes that
the server is off line. The default unit of time is five seconds.
