Charging the Batteries
At delivery, the NiMH batteries may be empty and must
be charged for 4 hours (with the test tool turned off) to
reach full charge. When fully charged, the batteries
provide 4 hours of use.
When battery power is used, the battery indicator at the
top of the screen informs you about the condition of the
batteries. The battery symbols are:

indicates that there are typically five minutes
of operating time left.
To charge the batteries and power the instrument,
connect the battery charger as shown in Figure 49. To
charge the batteries more quickly, turn off the test tool.
Caution
To avoid overheating of the batteries during
charging, do not exceed the allowable
ambient temperature given in the
specifications.
Note
No damage will occur if the charger is connected
for long periods, e.g., during the weekend. The
instrument then automatically switches to trickle
charging.
