3.6.5 Recommendations Concerning Redundancy
If possible, the Transponder Unit should be supplied with the ship’s Position sensor data from two different
sources, e.g. MX521 Smart DGPS antenna or the MX525 DGPS Sensor or other equivalent sensors).
3.6.6 Emergency Power Source
It is recommended that an emergency power source such as a 24 VDC uninterruptible power supply should
be used. See Section 7 for information about the power consumption of the Transponder Unit.
