Removing the control panel (R730xd)
Prerequisites
1. Ensure that you read the Safety instructions.
2. Follow the procedure listed in Before working inside your system.
3. Keep the T15 Torx screwdriver handy.

perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.
CAUTION: Do not use excessive force when removing the control panel cable as it can damage
the connectors.
Steps
1. Disconnect the control panel cable from the hard-drive backplane by pulling on the plastic pull tab.
2. Remove the screws that secure the control panel to the chassis.
3. Fold the plastic pull tab close to the connector.
4. Pull out the control panel cable as you guide the connector and the plastic pull tab through the
channel on the chassis.
