SPECIAL PRO CEDURES
Jet Pump Water In take and
Impeller Cleaning
WARNING
Keep away from intake grate while
engine is on. Items such as long
hair, loose clothing or personal
flotation dev ice straps can become
entangledinmovingpartsresult-
ing in severe injury or drowning.
Weeds, shells or debris can get caught
on the intake grate, drive s ha ft a nd/ or
impeller. A clogged water intak e may
cause trou bles such as:
Cavitation: Engine speed is high
but watercraft moves slowly du e to
reduced jet thrust, jet pump compo-
nents may be dam a ged.
Overheating: Since the jet pump
operation controls the flow of wa-
ter to cool the exhaust system, a
clogged intake will cause the engine
to overhe at and damage engine in-
ternal components.
A weed clogged area can be cleaned as
follows:
In-Water Cl eani ng
Rock the watercraft several times
while repeatedly pressing engine
start/stop button for short period with-
out sta rting engine. Most of the time,
this will remove the bl ockage. Start
engine and make sure watercraft oper-
ates properly.
If system is still blocked, move the wa-
tercraft out of the water and remove
blockage manually.
If the afore m entioned method does
not work, the following can be per-
formed:
With engine running and before
applying throttle, put s hift lever in
reverse pos ition and vary throttle
quickly several times.
Repeat procedure if necessary.
On-Beach Water Cleaning
WARNING
Always r emove the DESS k ey from
its post to prevent accidental en-
gine starting before cleaning the
jet pump area.
Place a cardboard or a carpet beside
the watercraft to pre vent scratching
when turni ng the watercraft for c lean-
ing.
Rotate the watercraft to any side for
cleaning.

Clean th e water intake area. If the s ys-
tem is still clogged, refe r to an autho-
rized Sea-Doo dealer for servicing.

Inspect water intake grate
for damage. Refer to an authorized
Sea-Doo dealer for repair as neces-
sary.
