Chapter 4 Wireless Network Configuration
Introduction
The HX1 computer is available with a Summit or Cisco radios. The Summit radio is an 802.11b/g
radio. The Cisco radio is an 802.11b radio. The radio can be configured for no encryption, WEP
encryption or WPA security.
Certificates are necessary for many of the WPA authentications. Please refer to the “Certificates”
section at the end of this chapter for more information on generating and installing certificates.
Please refer to the table below for the security options supported for each radio type.

Note: The instruction in this chapter assume an ActiveSync connection has been made between
the HX1 and a PC and that ActiveSync Remote Display has been started on the PC.
Please refer to Chapter 3, “System Configuration” for instructions.
The HX1 may have a label identifying the radio card installed. If a label like the one below is
attached to the HX1, the unit contains a Summit radio and the Summit Configuration Utility must
be used to configure the wireless settings.
