key to listen to the channel to make sure it
is not busy, then key the microphone and call the
other vessel you desire to communicate with.
9.5.5 Receiving an Individual Call
When the GX3000E receives a individual call, by default the GX3000E auto-
matically transmits a acknowledgement before switching to the requested chan-
nel. The GX3000E can be set so the GX3000E prompts you to manually send
a reply, refer to section “9.5.2 Setting up Individual Reply.”
1. When an individual call is received, an individual call
ringing alarm sounds.
The radio automatically switches to the requested
channel.
2. Press any key to stop the alarm.
3. Press the PTT on the mic and talk to the calling ship.
9.6 CALL WAITING DIRECTORY
The GX3000E logs received distress calls and individual calls. The DSC Call
Waiting feature is similar to an answer machine where calls are recorded for
review. When a call is logged while the radio is set on the DSC Standby func-
tion, a message will appear on the LCD. The GX3000E can memorise the
latest 23 Distress and up to the latest 56 Distress Calls.
10.6.1 Enabling the Call Waiting Feature
Follow the steps below to enable or disable the Call Waiting feature.
1. Press and hold down the
