For more information about the vsbconf command, see the FTX System
Administrator’s Guide: General Services
(R455X).
2. Issue the /sbin/hwmaint stop command to suspend operation on the target bus.
If any tape drives are attached to this virtual SCSI bus, this command suspends access to these tape drives.
In addition, if these tape drives are being used for read or write operations, the hwmaint stop command
terminates these operations even if they are not complete.
/sbin/hwmaint stop vsb n
In the preceding example, n is the identifier for the virtual SCSI bus selected in
step 1. For example, hwmaint stop
vsb 3 suspends operation on virtual SCSI bus 3.
3. Issue the /sbin/hwmaint ls command to verify that the state is now susp
(suspended).
/sbin/hwmaint ls vsb n
For example:
/sbin/hwmaint ls vsb 2
Modelx Description State Code Flg Serial BdRv PcRv Slotloc
- Virtual SCSI Bus 2 susp - --- - - - vsb 2
4. Install the tape drive by following the steps in the following sections. After installing
the tape drive, refer to the
section,‘‘Completing the Installation of Tape Drives on a Running System," to restart the SCSI bus.
3.2 Installing a Stand-Alone T800-Series Tape Drive
To install a stand-alone T800-Series tape drive, perform the following steps.
This procedure assumes that the system power is off or that the SCSI bus to which the tape drives will be attached has
been suspended.
Verify that the shipping cartons contain all the items included with Stand-Alone T800-Series Tape Drives, See
Items Included with Stand-Alone T800-Series Tape Drives.
