Setting up Local and Remote Viewing
SETTING UP LOCAL AND REMOTE VIEWING
You can connect the system to a network for local or remote viewing. Once connected, you can
access your system locally or remotely using the DVR Netviewer with Internet Explorer™ (PC) or
Safari™ (Mac™).
NOTE: Experience with routers and networking are recommended if configuring the network functions
of the system.
What do I need?
• Edge DVR System
• PC with Internet Explorer 6 or later OR Intel-based Mac™ with OSX and Safari web browser
(version 4 or later)
• Router and high speed internet (not included)
Local Vs Remote Viewing
Local viewing is useful if you wish to monitor your system within an internal network (i.e. inside
your home). Connecting locally usually results in smoother video because you are connecting to
your DVR locally, as opposed to remotely. An Internet connection is not required for local viewing.
Remote viewing allows you to connect to your system from anywhere that has Internet access. An
Internet connection is required for remote viewing.
