Single computer views
62 Perceive Getting Started
If groups have been defined:
■ The Group menu contains the names of all groups. If selection defaults have been
configured, the group name specified appears in the menu, and the view is
displayed automatically with data from all computers in that group. The menu
prompts you to select a group when default groups have not been specified. All
computers that have been discovered, but that do not fall within a group, are
assigned to a default group.
■ The Computer menu displays [All].
When no groups are available:
■ The Group menu displays <Select>.
■ The Computer menu displays [All].
When you have selected a group and time interval, a group view can be displayed.
When you select a view, Perceive displays performance metrics associated with
multiple computers in the form of charts, displayed in the results pane at the selected
time interval.
For more information on the metrics that are displayed in your view, refer to
Chapter 5, “Perceive metrics.”
Single computer views
Single computer views are organized based on the following situations.
■ The Group menu displays the names of all groups. By default, it shows either the
group name configured as the default name, or the default group, which includes
all computers that have not been assigned to a group.
■ The Computer menu displays the names of the group currently selected in the
Group menu, and displays either the computer name configured as the default
computer, or it prompts you to select a different computer.
When you have selected a computer and a time interval, you can display a single
computer view. When you select a view, Perceive displays performance metrics
associated with that computer in the form of a chart, displayed in the results pane at
the selected time interval.
For more information on single computer views and how they display in Perceive,
refer to “Computer views and group views” on page 68.
For more information on the metrics that are displayed in your view, refer to
Chapter 5, “Perceive metrics”page 159.
