To transmit, hold the transceiver approximately 5 cm (2 inches)
from your mouth, then press and hold
[PTT]
and speak into the
microphone in your normal tone of voice.
The “
” icon appears.
If you press
[PTT]
while you are outside of the transmission
coverage, a high pitched error beep sounds.

When you finish speaking, release
[PTT]
.
Note:
If you continuously transmit for longer than the time specified
in Menu No. 12 (default is 10 minutes) {page 64}, the internal timeout
timer generates a warning beep and the transceiver stops transmitting.
In this case, release
[PTT]
and let the transceiver cool down for a while,
then press
[PTT]
again to resume transmission.
Selecting An output power
Selecting a lower transmission power is the best way to reduce
battery consumption, if communication is still reliable.
Press
[F]
,
[PTT]
to toggle between high and low (approx. 0.5 W).
The “
” icon appears when the lower transmission power.
” shows the remaining battery capacity when you
transmit in low power {page 54}.
