SCSI Configuration Utility
The HP Server uses the Symbios SCSI Configuration Utility to verify or modify the embedded SCSI
controller settings for the devices connected to the two SCSI channel connectors on the system board. If you
need to verify or modify SCSI controller settings, or if you need to low-level format SCSI disks or verify
SCSI disk media, run the Symbios Configuration utility.
NOTE You typically would not need to use this utility unless you are an experienced
administrator or requested to do so by a support provider.
During the boot process the message "Symbios, Inc. PCI Boot ROM successfully loaded" will appear if there
are devices connected to the SCSI controller. The SCSI controller can provide the bus, device, and channel
configurations when active on screen.
To access the Symbios SCSI Configuration Utility, refer to the following instructions:
1. Reboot the HP Server.
If you are already in the boot process, you should see the following message appear.
Press Ctrl C to start Symbios Configuration Utility...
2. Press Ctrl+C keys to enter the utility.
3. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor, press Enter to select an option, and press Esc to exit.
4. To change SCSI controller settings:
a. Select an embedded SCSI controller or SCSI adapter from the list in the main menu and press Enter.
b. Select Adapter Setup.
This option configures the SCSI controller ID setting and other advanced controller settings.
5. To format a hard disk or change hard disk parameters:
a. Select an embedded SCSI controller or SCSI adapter from the list in the main menu and press Enter.
b. Select Device Selections and press Enter.
