The data format used by the zlib library is described by RFCs (Request for Comments) 1950
to 1952 in the files http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1950.txt (zlib format), rfc1951.txt (deflate format)
and rfc1952.txt (gzip format).

This code is largely copied from inflate.c.
Normally either infback.o or inflate.o would be linked into an application--not both.
The interface with inffast.c is retained so that optimized assembler-coded versions of
inflate_fast() can be used with either inflate.c or infback.c.
