Periodic Maintenance Procedures
Steering Shaft [B]
Hull/Engine Hood
Drain Plug Inspection
•
Check the drain plugs [A] for cracks or damage and the
drain plug mounting screws [B] are tightened securely.
•
Check the seals [C] for damage.
If necessary, replace the drain plugs or seals.
Electrical System
Battery Charging Condition Inspection
Battery charging condition can be checked by measuring
battery terminal voltage.
•
Disconnect the battery terminal leads (see Battery Re-
moval in Electrical System chapter).
CAUTION
Be sure to disconnect the negative terminal lead
first.
•
Measure the battery terminal voltage.
NOTE
○
Measure with a digital voltmeter [A] which c an be read
one decimal place voltage.
If the reading is below the specified, refreshing charge
is required ( see Refreshing Charge in Electrical System
chapter).
Battery Terminal Voltage
Standard:
12.6 V or more
•
Connect the battery leads, positive first.
Battery Terminals Inspection
•
Check the battery terminal screws [A] for tightness and
make sure terminal covers are in place.
WARNING
Loose battery cables can create sparks which can
cause a fire or explosion resulting in injury or death.
Make sure the battery terminal screws are tightened
securely and the covers are installed over the termi-
nals.
